Do you remember yourself as a child?  I’m pretty sure you have a vague memory.  Let me take you on a journey……

Children spend most of their days in laughter & Imagination, while adults spend most of their days in worry. –Therese Miu

We have to emulate children’s imagination, laughter, and joy.

They have no fear of the world.  The genius inside them are most alive.

They are running with creative flow in every moment.

Children have no goals other than to expand, grow, and explore this amazing world.

They are joyful and easily pleased.

I heard in July 2009 Issue of Success Magazine that, “Older is wiser. That’s a good thing unless older means being overly cautious and jaded.  Flash back when you were a child; you just knew what made you happy, and you didn’t hold back.” Not even one bit right?!

This last 3 years have absolutely been my best years ever.  You will definitely hear me talk about this more than once.  I am enjoying the journey of parenting and embracing ALL the incredible changes my son is growing through.  I’m truly dedicated to encouraging my son the power of imagination.  I am truly excited to see him grow everyday into his creative genius.

Norman Vincent Peale once said, “Imagination is the true magic carpet.”

Children and animals have the amazing power to concentrate on the present moment. They just do.  I know this happens with me all the time.  We are sometimes more consumed with our everyday circumstances right?!  Past mistakes, worries of the future, what are we going to do next.  I heard on average human beings have 60,000 thoughts a day.

WOW! That’s incredible!

Dennis Whitley achievement expert and author of more than 15 books, including The Psychology of Winning says, “Curiosity is synonymous with childhood. Children are constantly learning, challenging, and growing.  Adults should follow the lead offered by young children.  When you speak you learn nothing.  When you question and listen, you learn much.”

Children’s excitement and curiosity creates a FIRE and MAGIC.  I heard one way to become a more creative person is to nurture neoteny.  Dr. Stuart Brown explains in his book called Play, “ Neoteny is the state or attitude of perpetual immaturity and playfulness.”

In essence each of us adults, NEEDS to be given permission to have fun and embrace the BIG purpose of PLAY our entire life.

Let’s look at children behavior they live in the present moment, they are definitely grateful, curious, believes in the possibilities, and make new friends easily with no-judgment.

Sometimes you have to be a student and let your children be your teacher~Therese Miu

And my son has been teaching me so many incredible things and I am open to the teachings of a toddler.  I’m sure you have felt that in your life.  Sometimes you get so caught up in the busyness of life that you forget to give thanks.  You forget to observe the sky, flower, or nature.  I love that children has the innate ability to connect with nature, human beings alike, and animals.  They have a sense of awe and wonderment for the world around them.  This is great because wonder directs your  attention to options that you might have otherwise overlooked, and it keeps your awareness fresh and keen.

Children also have no judgments of any kind.  I always get surprise when I’m at the park or restaurant and he makes friends easily with other toddlers and just starts connecting.  By being-like children we can let of go of past worry embrace the moment and live life in laughter.  I have learned over the years that, energy flows where attention goes, then why not focus on PRESENT MOMENT, LAUGHTER, and JOY of LIFE.

“There are no days in life so memorable as those which vibrate to some stroke of the imagination”

I have listed a few examples how adults can embrace neoteny:

1. Be in Amazament & Curiosity –Wonderment for Life

2. Embrace nature

3. Have a thirst to learn new things

4. Be Open

5. Be in the Present Moment

6. Maintain Sense of Humor

7. Practice Non-Judgment

8. Go with the flow

To a child, the whole world is alive, vibrant ― but as we grow older we start living as though surrounded by dead things. Recapture the capacity to live in an illumined, alive world.~~OSHO

kite The Power of Your Imagination

As I write this blogpost about Adventure, Curiosity, Magic, and Imagination.  I was reminded of my experience with my son just a year ago when he was 2.  I wrote this down in my journal. Here’s a story I will leave you with today:

“He played five different games in the bathtub.  He put the magnetic bath sponge all over the wall.  Then he realized it can also stick on the shower curtain so he threw it all over the shower curtain.  He would get so upset when it would get stuck somewhere up on the top of the shower curtain where he could not reach.  Then he played with the sponge—started cleaning the bathtub itself. He would give me a kiss every now and then.  He would LAUGH in his BIG SMILE and silly face.  I just watched him in the bathtub.  I was truly immersed in the moment of pure joy just watching him do unbelievable and crazy stuff in the tub.  He would splash me with water and laugh at the same time.  In the end, he accidentally put a little soap in his eye and cried hysterically.”

Children are curious, playful, adventurous, and is so engaged in the present moment.  There are so many precious moment like this I recall as he progress on to pre-school.

I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity.

Children often leave footprints of happiness and joy that stays within our hearts forever.

They infect the world with their BLISS.

Great is the man that has not lost his childlike heart. Mencius

I’m sure you too have memories like these with your children whether they are now grown up or whether they are still young.

I would love to hear from you.

What do you feel your children have taught you?

Are you continually summoning the power of your imagination?

Looking forward to hearing from you!  And don’t forget to share this post if you like it by tweeting it to your Twitter followers or sharing it on facebook!

Love Light & Blessings,

I love how you took me to a journey of remembering...and enjoying the memories.
Imagination is definitely one of the keys. The mind cannot distinguish from real to made up. That is the reason why its so important for us parents to continually feed our children with beautiful imaginations and dreams, that no dreams are too big.
Thank you for the journey. I look forward to reading more.
