Comfort zones offer comfort when we need it for comfort, staying there too long gets uncomfortable because in life we are either progressing or regressing - nothing in life ever stays the same so my new moto is to be comfortable in the inevitable changes.

I was listening to Mike Murdock the other day and he touched on this very topic of comfort zones. Comfort zones are what keep us the same while our differences are what creates our success. He urged audience members to embrace their differences because that is the key to their growth. For someone that longs for safety and comfort this can be a scary idea. For someone that does not want to stand out and just blend in with their sameness, difference can feel uncomfortable. Learning that wisdom is developed by discerning differences I am discovering that a balance of comfort and difference will spring one forward.

It is scary to move out into something new but sometimes life forces us to face the next step, sometimes we try to regress and find that safe comfort zone, only to find ourselves back in an uncomfortable place.

It takes belief in ourselves to reach, stretch and move into something new.

It all starts within....a movement towards an open mind that allows the new in.

Thank you for your encouragement.

Thank you so much Thérèse for this wonderful post. Once we get out of our comfort zones we step into a space where we can allow miracles to happen. I am so happy you are sharing your gifts with the world!

Stepping out of my comfort zone is my ultimate weakness. But I am determined to make it a strength. I get frustrated wtih myself when I don't carry out what I intended because I chicken out. Just like we've learned...what's easy to do is just as easy NOT to do. I think it all comes down to discipline and practice. I have much room for improvement!
Great blog. Keep up the good work!

hi therese,
it is wonderful to see deeper into your mind with each of your posts that i read. i believe that comfort zones are part of our lives for various reasons...we all need a place to rest, rebuild and reflect and being in the comfort zone provides that space. but pushing out beyond that place is the only way to grow - in any area of our lives.
thanks for your thoughtful perspective on such an all-pervasive topic.
