Let’s be REAL.

Let’s face it.

Most of us live a stressful lifestyle.  And whether we know it or not everyday there’s another to-do list piling up.  I have experienced this over the years as a mom & business owner.  There’s always going to be an on-going task, project to fulfill, fast-food media gossip, and things that weigh us down.

Let’s SHIFT TODAY, right now, this very moment from “complexity to simplicity.”

Allow your breath to guide you as you finish this blogpost.

REMEMBER

An important key element to living a fulfilling and rewarding life is to become even more conscious.  I mean literally conscious.  No short-cuts. No excuses. No complaining.  We must energize our thoughts in the highest level that brings us true joy and inner peace.

I am EXCITED for you, so let’s get STARTED!

In these traumatic stressful times, one thing I refuse to postpone is my own happiness.  I mean tell me a gossip about someone and my mind will LITERALLY wander off.  Talk to me about a negative friend and I respond with no comment.  I mean spare me the details who are dating who in the celebrity world.  I don’t care!  Not to say I like being oblivious and naïve which is not true.  I simply PROTECT my happiness.  Just like you would protect your own child from harm’s way.  Or protect your business in every way.  I guard and protect my happiness.  That’s it!

I learned this a while ago from Dr. Wayne Dyer:

“If asked, why do you give us light and warmth? I believe that the sun would answer, it’s my nature to do so.  We must be like the sun, and locate and dispense our giving nature.”

How many times have we heard this before “Wherever Focus goes, Energy flows” and it SHOWS.

I truly believe whole-heartedly that, “Self-care—it’s one of the great keys to self-love.” We must tend to our own happiness vitamins daily.

I think vitality and mindful living is a daily practice.  So today I want to share with you belief and attitude I adapted over the years to increase the likelihood of my own happiness.  By the end of this post, you will literally be gazing at the computer screen…thinking to yourself “That’s it.”

1.)    Mindful breathing is KEY to maintain optimal health & well-being.  As Marci reminds us in her book Happy For No Reason, “We have 26,000 opportunities a day, each time we breathe, to support our happiness.”  The next time you feel stress, angry, or anxious TRY THESE following exercise bring yourself from a highly emotional state into balance, peace & bliss.

In mouth out mouth
In mouth out nose
In nose out nose
In nose out mouth
In mouth out mouth
In mouth out nose

Now close your eyes and enjoy the tingle!

2.)    Smile—Smiling has been known to transfer endorphins (the happy brain cells) to your every being.  So keep doing it! Beware though too much smiling can cause you to irritate people who are unhappy.  Beware because smiling will literally shift your mood in less than seconds.  Beware because smiling can help you boost your energy level way UP!

3.)    3’S

a.)    Silence

b.)    Solitude

c.)     Stillness

This meditative state alone is enough to increase balance, create more joy, find inner clarity, and peace within.

Silent retreat is a GIFT you GIVE to yourself to restore inner strength, maintain balance, and direct your world inward.

    Love this post and you're so RIGHT on about living consciously, really, not sometimes but be in it every moment. It's easier said than done because we're all so busy but it doesn't have to mean stop everything you're doing to be conscious but focus on whatever you're doing at the moment. That could be fully invested in a conversation, an email, whatever it is, be conscious of that particular task/moment. I've found more clarity with this rather than focusing on 10 things at once ;).

  • Therese, I loved this post on balance! The formula that you share really works because these are the essentials that help us live, stay positive and maintain our authenticity.
    I have one more ingredient that helps me to stay balanced and energized. This ingredient is being in nature as much as possible. Combining deep breathing with a nice walk in the park, smiling when you run around outside and have fun with your kids and being silent and mindful when you watch the sunset from your favorite spot - just the thought of it makes me calm and balanced.

    Tony Robbins talks about mindful breathing in his Get the Edge program and I can assure you and anyone reading that when you do it, you reap many a benefit from it.

    Breath is life and I believe it to be an under utilized tool in bringing balance and feelings of well being instantly.

    I love these 3 practices and you've explained them so well!
    Happiness is my natural state of being so I don't use tools to increase my happyness, but I use them to RETURN to my happiness, which is who I really am.
    I' v got a bag of tricks to apply during the day.
    -VISUALIZATION : making love, laughing with friends, buliding my perfect body are not only my favourite practices but also my favourite visualizations. They can make me happy in less than 68 seconds.
    -SINGING: I sing since I was born, the emotion that I feel cannot be express with words.
    -YAWNING: I love Yawning!!!!! My cousin said How is it that you are always yawning?? Don't you sleep at night? And I explain that this is my way of relaxing. Yawning is relaxing and exciting at the same time, I love it.
    -HUMMING: I love humming with a deep voice. This makes me feel powerful and balances all the chakras of my body. I love feeling my voice vibing in my chest, it's such a warm sensation.

    This can really make my day, whenever I want.
